You’ll learn more about STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) while helping others learn too. It’s also a chance to become a role model in your school or community, which can feel really rewarding.
If you complete the higher levels of the programme (YSL4(F), YSL5, YSL6 or SL7), you’ll gain a recognised qualification with SCQF credit points. That means your hard work counts towards your future.
Taking part also gives you something strong to talk about in personal statements and your CV. You’ll be able to show you’ve developed important skills like teamwork, communication and planning - skills that employers and universities really value. At YSL6, you can even earn UCAS points to support your applications for further study.
To get involved you'll need to work with a trained 'Tutor Assessor'. Teachers in schools, leaders in community groups or other educators can all sign up to support you to become a Young STEM Leader.
