Part of the Young STEM Leader Programme family of awards and fully funded by Ocean Winds, STEM Leader 7 (SL7) is a free, SCQF Level 7 qualification, credit rated by Qualifications Scotland. It is available to anyone in Scotland aged 16+ who is supported by a trained Tutor Assessor. Tutor Assessor training is available here. Once complete, educators will have access to the Support Notes and Resources required to deliver the award.

Why offer STEM Leader 7?

At the heart of STEM Leader 7 is learner choice. By giving learners the freedom to explore issues they care about, the programme nurtures confident, independent learners who can think critically, lead effectively and make a positive contribution to the world around them. SL7 develops the skills and experience needed for further study, employment and active citizenship.

SL7 Overview

Through six structured Learning Outcomes, learners will:

  • Investigate their own STEM challenge linked to sustainability at a local, national or global level.

  • Critically analyse information and evidence to develop informed conclusions.
  • Communicate their findings in a format of their choice including reports, scientific posters, podcasts, videos and presentations etc.
